Health Gateway in the Darling Downs

On Wednesday, 24 February 2021, St Saviour’s College in Toowoomba became the first school in the Darling Downs region to sign on as a Gateway School for both the Health and Community Services sectors. This engagement was formalised by Sharon Collins, College Principal signing an MoU and the official opening of the college’s on-site Health Hub.

The Health Hub will be utilised by students who are undertaking a combined Certificate II in Health Support Services and Community Services. This includes St Saviour’s students, as well as students from St Mary’s College and St Joseph’s College, who will complete the practical component of their studies at the Hub.

The launch event was attended by a number of community leaders and industry representatives including Mayor Paul Antonio, staff from the Darling Downs HHS, Goolburri Aboriginal Health, UQ’s Rural Clinical School, as well as trainers from Connect ‘n’ Grow, who are delivering the dual qualification.
